REC 2.9.2 Magma Mailchimp

Date: 3rd July 2013

Summary
This is a small but important release with integration into Cindercone's Magma system which in turn integrates into larger Sage packages, plus simple integration into Mailchimp and a series of smaller changes requested by clients.

Magma Integration

REC now integrates via FTP into larger corporate Sage systems via Cindercone's Magma system (significant separate charges apply). Contact Sales for further information.

Mailchimp Integration

You can now synchronise your user email addresses with Mailchimp and use them to send and track email and unsubscriptions (separate Mailchimp charges apply). Remember you should only have opted-in email addresses for mail campaigns else Mailchimp will blacklist you. Definitely no bulk upload of purchased email addresses!

1. Set up your Mailchimp account and enter your company details.

2. In your Mailchimp account, click on your name in the left hand column > Account Settings > Extras > API Keys

3. In the section "Your API Keys" click Create A Key

4. Copy the API key that has been created.

5. Still in Mailchimp, set up a List, for example set the List Name to REC, and enter the rest of the details on the page.

6. Go to REC Admin Centre > Mailchimp Integration and click on the Setup Integration tab

7. Enter your Mailchimp username, API key and master list name e.g. REC (exactly the same as you entered in Mailchimp)

8. Click Integrate Mailchimp and the website will link to Mailchimp and report it has been successful

9. In the Mailchimp Integration Home tab, it will report how many subscribed users you have and allow you to upload these to Mailchimp by clicking Force Mailchimp Update

Note: You will only normally need to do this once when first integrating with Mailchimp. Users will then be automatically updated between REC and Mailchimp, including unsubscriptions.

10. Go into your Mailchimp Lists and you will see all your uploaded users now present.

You can now create a campaign within Mailchimp and start emailing!

Support: You need to directly contact Mailchimp if you need support using their system.

Product Filter - Hide Filter Blocks When There Are No Items To Display

When using product filters, you can now stop filter blocks from displaying where there are no items in that block. For example, if you had  filters set up to show colours and patterns and selected a category where there were no products in that category with pattern tags, then the filter block for patterns would not be displayed.

To enable this go into Site Settings > Website Display Display Elements and tick the field On product filter, remove blocks where no items are found.

Set Different Sidebar Apps On Product Page Layout
It is now possible to set and position sidebars on the product page layout to be different to the category page layout. Until this version you had to have the same layout on both product and category pages. To change the product page layout, simply edit the system page Shop Product Layout.

Disconnect From Social Media SItes

You now have the facility to disconnect from 3rd party social media sites you have previously connected to, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn.

Go into Admin > Connect > click the Disconnect link underneath each service from which you wish to disconnect.

Exporting Product And User Data Using Offsets

You can now enter an offset when exporting product or user data, which is useful if you wish to export a block of data starting from a certain point through the file. For example, if you wanted data from the 200th record onwards you would put in an offset of 199 and then the data would be retrieved from record 200 onwards.

Access this via Admin > Export Program

Membership / Customer Codes have also been added to the order export CSV.

Display Of Coupon Code Usage On Orders

The coupon code and discount amount are now also displayed in Order Manager in Admin and on the User Home page, which users can see when they login to their account and click on My Orders.

Displaying Manufacturer Icons On Product Pages
Manufacturer icons can now be displayed on product pages. First upload your icon images in Manufacturer (Brand) Manager and then add the template tag {{ product.manufacturer_image }} to the product page template.
